All Lypo-Spheric™ products From Livon LabsQ: Can I blend the Lypo-Spheric™ products in a food processor or blender? A: We do not recommend blending any of the Lypo-Spheric™ products in a food processor or blender. Lypo-Spheric™ supplements are encapsulated in liposomes. Although these tiny bubbles are impervious to digestive juices and protect their valuable contents from oxidative degradation, they can be damaged with heat or violent agitation. Q: Why don't the Lypo-Spheric™ products dissolve in water? A: It is this very lack of solubility that makes liposomes impervious to stomach acids and bile salts. It also gives them quick and easy access into the bloodstream and enables them to slip across cell membranes as they quickly and safely transport nutrients to their intended destination. Q: Should I consult my doctor before taking Lypo-Spheric™ products? A: In most cases there is no need to consult your doctor for any of our supplements. If you are currently under a treatment program for any major health condition, you should consider consulting your physician prior to making any significant change to your eating, exercise, or supplementation regimens. If you have hemochromatosis, any type of hemolytic anemia, G6PD deficiency, known kidney insufficiency or failure, or you are currently taking a blood thinner like warfarin (Coumadin) you should consider consulting your doctor before starting a supplementation program that includes any form of vitamin C. Q: Are there any supplements or medications that should not be taken with Lypo-Spheric™ products? A: All of the components of the AGE Blocker™ and GSH are common dietary supplements that should not interfere with other supplements or most medications. Because any form of vitamin C can interfere with Coumadin or Warfarin, you should consult with your physician or pharmacist before using any of these medications with Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C. If you have any additional questions about possible interactions with medications consult your physician or pharmacist. Q: When is the best time to take Lypo-Spheric™ products? A: While there is no exact time these products have to be taken, we recommend taking them in the morning and/or early afternoon. Taking the products too late in the evening may cause a burst of energy which could interfere with your normal sleep schedule. We also recommend that you take them on an empty stomach, a few minutes prior to a meal, to provide the maximum and quickest entrance into the bloodstream. Q: What's the best way to take Lypo-Spheric™ products? A: We've found that, for most people, the easiest way is to squeeze the contents of the packet into 1-2 ounces of water, swirl gently to make sure the liposomes are not sticking to the bottom or sides of the glass, and to drink the whole mixture in one swallow. For those who don't like the taste, substitute with 1-2 ounces of a cool fruit or vegetable juice, for water. Q: What makes Lypo-Spheric™ products superior to traditional supplements? A: Greater Bioavailability: Quite simply, Lypo-Spheric™ products are much more useable by the body. Each Lypo-Spheric™ product is encapsulated liposomes that ensure much greater absorption into the bloodstream (bioavailability) and greater penetration into the cells of the body. In addition, the liposomes themselves are made from essential phospholipids and provide tremendous health benefits on their own. One of the predominent phospholipids in our liposomes is phosphatidlycholine which is rich in choline and omega-6 fatty acids that are vital to human life and health. Superior Quality: The liposomes work in tandem with our sealed, food-grade, unidose packets, to keep our supplements at optimum potency and freshness by preventing exposure to the air. Liposomes also protect the nutrients inside from premature breakdown in the digestive system. This level of preservation is not possible in capsule, tablet, powder, and liquid formulations. For more information and documentation see (opens in separate window): Bioavailability Liposomes Essential phosholipids / phosphatidylcholine Q: Should I take the Lypo-Spheric™ products on an empty stomach? A: We recommend you take the product on an empty stomach because it will enter the bloodstream faster, however the product may be taken with food or after a meal and it will still be fully absorbed by the body. For those who are prone to low blood sugar levels, the Lypo-Spheric™ AGE Blocker™ should be taken just before a light snack or meal. Hypoglycemic substances, like caffeine, should be avoided. Q: How much Lypo-Spheric™ product can I take per day? A: How much you can take, and how much you should take are two very different questions. As far as published studies are concerned, no toxicity level has ever been found with vitamin C, glutathione, or B vitamins. Nor is there any documented toxicity level for phospholipids (the material in the liposomes). As far as how much you "should" take, we recommend one to two packets per day for general health maintenance. If you choose to take more than the recommended dosage, it is best to increase the dosage level slowly over a 7 day period. Q: Can I mix Lypo-Spheric™ products in hot beverages like coffee or tea? A: We do not recommend mixing any of the Lypo-Spheric™ products in hot beverages like coffee or tea. For best results, we recommend taking the product with a cool beverage. Q: What about sodium benzoate and Lypo-Spheric™Vitamin C? A: From the desk of Thomas Levy, MD, JD: Sodium benzoate and vitamin C mixed directly together, such as in a soft drink, can result in a limited production of benzene. Increased benzene production does not occur in products which do not contain both benzoate AND ascorbic acid.1,2 Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C has no sodium benzoate in it and Lypo-Spheric™ GSH and AGE Blocker™ do not contain ascorbic acid, so there is no possibility of benzene formation when these products are taken separately. Even if one were to take Lypo-Spheric™ GSH and AGE Blocker™ concurrent with Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C, the mechanism of benzene formation requires conditions not present in this scenario.3 In addition, the ascorbic acid in the Vitamin C is contained in liposomes which prevent contact with the sodium benzoate during the very short time required for these supplements to pass through the stomach.4 If you have any fears about the possibility of even miniscule amounts of benzene forming in your stomach, simply take the Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C by itself on an empty stomach and wait at least 20 minutes before ingesting any product that contains sodium benzoate and don't take Lypo-Spheric™ AGE Blocker™ or Lypo-Spheric™ GSH with any beverages containing vitamin C. 1 Gardner, L.K. and Lawrence, G.D. Environmental technology,19(9):955-960. Q: Can I take the Lypo Spheric™ products at the same time or should I avoid the combination and alternate? A: Yes, we recommend mixing the products in the same beverage. All 3 Lypo-Spheric™ products work synergistically, therefore taking them together will enhance their benefits. Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C Q: Why do the Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C packets get puffy? A: During the packaging process, carbon dioxide (CO2) is used to remove excess oxygen from the packets. Over time carbon dioxide can cause the packets to swell. This gas is not harmful to the liposomes and poses no health risk as your body makes and expels large amounts of it every day. Q: Why is there alcohol in the Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C? A: There is alcohol in the product for preservative purposes. This is a pharmaceutical grade natural grain alcohol which will not cause any ill effects in the body. In fact, your body makes more alcohol while digesting a regular meal than is in the product. If you do not wish to consume the alcohol in the product, open the packet and let it sit for 10-15 minutes to let the alcohol evaporate. (Do not let it sit for more than 4 hours because it will oxidize). Q: Last time I purchased the Lypo-Spheric™ Vitamin C, the contents were a different color. Did you change the formula? A: The formula has not changed, but the difference in color is completely normal. The vitamin C can range from a light honey color to a dark amber brown color. This is due to the variation in the color of the phospholipids used to encapsulate the vitamin C. Q: Will supplementing with vitamin C lead to the development of kidney stones? A: Although some have theorized a correlation between vitamin C and the development of kidney stones, overwhelming evidence contradicts this hypothesis. Broad population studies suggest that those with the highest blood levels of vitamin C have the lowest incidence of kidney stones. Lypo-Spheric™ AGE Blocker™ Q: What is Lypo Spheric™ AGE Blocker™? A: The Lypo-Spheric AGE Blocker is a B vitamin complex that also contains trace minerals and cinnamon extract. It helps the body metabolize carbohydrates and helps prevent the formation of detrimental advanced glycation end-products (AGE). Q: Why is indium included in the Lypo Spheric™ AGE Blocker™? A: Indium enhances absorption of the other minerals found in Lypo Spheric™ AGE Blocker™ and has many anti-aging properties as well. Lypo-Spheric™ GSH Q: Where does GSH come from? A: The body's cells make GSH from three amino acids - glutamate, l-cysteine and glycine, also referred to as "precursors." The body depends on the presence of these "precursors" and the cell's health status to make GSH. Since many of these precursors are missing from our modern diet and people frequently have less than healthy cells, natural GSH levels are often low. Q: What does GSH stand for? A: Glutathione Sulfhydryl Q: Why is vitamin B12 included in Lypo-Spheric™ GSH? A: Methylcobalamin is an essential B vitamin (B12). It works synergistically with Glutathione (GSH) and enhances its value to the body. Q: What can the Lypo-Spheric™ GSH do for me? A: GSH is the cell's master antioxidant. Not only does GSH function very well as an intracellular antioxidant, but it also recycles vitamin C, vitamin E, lipoic acid and peroxide, the cell's other vital antioxidants. It is also a powerful detoxifier. The liver, as the body's primary filter, contains more GSH than any other organ or tissue in the body. Not only does GSH neutralize many toxins, but it is also key in their elimination from individual cells and the body. In addition, GSH is a "super food" for T-killer cells, T-helper cells, basophils, phagocytes, microphages, and leucocytes - front-line "soldiers" of the human immune system. FAQs - Nutrient Tree Liposomal Vitamin CQ: Does it mix well with water or Juice? A: Absolutely. Just add it to your favorite juice, water or cold beverage and it mixes in right away with little or no stirring. Q: What flavor is it? A: Orange. Q: What is the dosage? A: 5 milliliters or 1 teaspoon. They are the same. Q: Why is your Liposomal Vitamin C non-soy? A: Because we believe that our non-soy, non-GMO sunflower formula has distinct health advantages over soy and so that people with nut allergies are able to take it. Q: Is it safe to take if I have nut allergies? A: Our Liposomal Vitamin C is hypoallergenic and Non-soy. Q: Will Liposomal Vitamin C cause stomach upset or other gastrointestinal distress if taken in the proper dosage? A: No, this is one of the primary advantages of the product. Q: What is the expiration date? A: One year from the manufacturing date. Q: Does Liposomal Vitamin C need to be refrigerated? A: We recommend refrigeration to help ensure freshness. It can be kept in a cool place out of the sun however. Heat will degrade the product. Q: What are the brown specs in the Liposomal Vitamin C? A: Natural flavoring that has separated. This has no effect on the quality or effectiveness of the product. Q: Where is it made? A: In the USA in an FDA inspected facility. Q: Can children take Liposomal Vitamin C. A: Yes, children can take it. NOTE: For babies, Dr. Suzanne Humphries, MD, suggests the following: Liposomal Vitamin C is not dosed the same as the sodium ascorbate form of Vitamin C and therefore 1000 mg of Liposomal Vitamin C will be the equivalent of approximatyely 3000 mg of sodium ascorbate, so you use much less if you are using Liposomal Vitamin. For sick babies, calculating sodium ascorbate at 375 mg/kg of body weight, and give that over waking hours, making sure that a larger dose is given just before night, to tide the baby over longer hours. Use Liposomal Vitamin C at night with children and babies helps to build up greater concentrations in the blood. This appears to help hold them stable for those night hours. It can be mixed into a small amount of fruit smoothie. Also Livon labs Lypospheric Vitamin C contains soy and should be avoided if there is any known allergy to soy. Nutrient Tree Liposomal Vitamin C product is NON-SOY. Q: What is the source of your Vitamin C? A: Most Vitamin C comes from corn and one of the main concerns with corn is the GMO aspect. We feel strongly about a clean and pure product which is why we 3rd party test our product for GMO's. We can proudly say our Liposomal Vitamin C is GMO free. Q: What are GMOs? A: GMOs, or “genetically modified organisms,” are plants or animals that have been genetically engineered with DNA from bacteria, viruses or other plants and animals. These experimental combinations of genes from different species cannot occur in nature or in traditional crossbreeding. Virtually all commercial GMOs are engineered to withstand direct application of herbicide and/or to produce an insecticide. Despite biotech industry promises, none of the GMO traits currently on the market offer increased yield, drought tolerance, enhanced nutrition, or any other consumer benefit. Meanwhile, a growing body of evidence connects GMOs with health problems, environmental damage and violation of farmers’ and consumers’ rights. Q: What is Phosphatidylcholine? A: Phosphatidylcholine is a phospholipid (major component of all cell membranes) contained in eggs, sunflower, mustard, soybeans, and other foods. The term "phosphatidylcholine" is sometimes used interchangeably with "lecithin," although the two are different. From WebMD - Choline is a component of phosphatidylcholine, which is a component of lecithin. Although closely related, these terms are not the same. Because the body uses phosphatidylcholine to make a brain chemical called acetylcholine, there is some interest in using it for treating “brain-centered” conditions such as memory loss, Alzheimer’s disease, anxiety, manic-depressive disorders, and a movement disorder called tardive dyskinesia. Phosphatidylcholine is also used for treating hepatitis, eczema, gallbladder disease, circulation problems, high cholesterol, and premenstrual syndrome (PMS); for improving the effectiveness of kidney dialysis; for boosting the immune system; and for preventing aging. Healthcare providers sometimes give phosphatidylcholine intravenously (by IV) for chest pain, fat globules in the blood (fat embolism), high cholesterol, liver disease, and fatty plaque deposits in arteries. NOTE: Our Phosphatidylcholine is derived from pure non-GMO Sunflower Oil, which we believe has distinct health advantages over soy based phosphatidylcholine. Q: What is a Liposome? A: A microscopic sized spherical sac or sphere of phospholipid molecules (phosphatidylcholine) enclosing a nutrient, such as vitamin C. Enclosing the Vitamin C in a liposome allows the Vitamin C to pass through the digestive tract and into the bloodstream without causing stomach or intestinal upset. |
